Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre is the home of the Australian Society of Calligraphers, one of the largest calligraphy groups in Australia. Although based in Sydney, the Society has members from all over Australia and overseas. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the art and craft of calligraphy – people from complete beginners to professionals are all welcome.
The Society promotes all aspects of the art and craft of calligraphy through its quarterly magazine, Colophon, and by running frequent practical workshops, which are usually held at the Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre.
Colophon is a high quality magazine containing articles covering a wide variety of topics written by local and international calligraphers. It is well-respected both nationally and internationally and has been voted in the top ten best calligraphy journals in the world by Cyberscribes.
Our workshops cover a wide range of topics, from traditional methods to the latest contemporary calligraphic techniques, including the use of computers in enhancing calligraphic works. We often host interstate and international tutors to extend the learning experiences of our members.
Other activities of the Society include lectures and exhibitions, and demonstrations of the art of calligraphy. The ASC also has an extensive library of books and journals which is housed at Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre. It is available for members’ use during workshops or by special arrangement.
The ASC has its own website with full information about all aspects of the Society’s activities and contact details. Please click below to visit the ASC site. We also have a Facebook page and an Instagram page links click to below.
